MOT Test

The MOT Test scheme is designed to ensure that all cars, and light goods vehicles more than 3 years old are properly maintained and are safe to be driven on public roads.

All cars 3 years old and over require a valid MOT certificate by law, and at least once a year must be examined at an authorised MOT test station to make sure that they meet the requirements of the MOT Test.

We can make booking your next MOT Test easier; just use our online booking form to choose a convenient date and time and we will confirm with you by return.

New 2012 EU Requirements

UK vehicles are now subject to additional testing requirements, designed to provide a common European standard. The new checks extend to;

  • HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlamp cleaning and leveling devices.
  • Tyre pressure monitoring systems (vehicles registered after 1st January 2012.
  • Motors on electric seats
  • Electronic Stability Control
  • Dashboard warning lights
  • Steering lock
  • Rear doors( must be able to be opened from outside)

Some of the new testable components are subject to a "bedding in" period, and if defective will be shown as advisory on the MOT Test Certificate.

At Heriothill Garage we can advise you on these new requirements. Contact us if you you have any questions about the new requirements or how they may apply to your vehicle.

We will get your car through it's MOT Test as smoothly, quickly and as cost-effectively as possible.
